The Sex Pact

The Sex Pact is a CDC-funded initiative to increase condom usage among 14-18 year-old African American males in Washington, DC. Sexual Health Innovations was a subcontractor on this project, providing the development work of the web and mobile views of the site, writing much of the content, and overseeing product management. Students at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) created the graphic design for this initiative.

The Sex Pact was piloted at Beacon House in DC. Three-quarters of the surveyed target population (males ages 14-17) were aware of The Sex Pact at the end of the campaign. Over the course of the campaign, increases were seen in the proportion of respondents reporting easy access to free condoms (55% vs. 100%), recent condom acquisition from community locations (12% vs. 61%), and condom use at last sex (68% vs. 71%).
